WHAT WE DO
We increase soil fertility and soil resilience to climate change through regenerative organic farming. By boosting soil fertility, we strengthen the ecosystem while creating sustainable products.
WATER
Cover crops: We grow cover crops that we mow in order to protect the soil from the sun and prevent water evaporation.
Key-line: We curb soil erosion by planting our trees along the contours of the hills.
Irrigation: We optimize water use through drip irrigation.
Lake water: We irrigate using lake water to limit drinking water consumption
BIO-COMPOST
Teku Kana: We make a soil amendment that is rich in microorganisms using forest litter, bran and sugar.
Bio-fertilizer: We add whey to our Teku Kana to make a nutrient-rich fertilizer.
Mulch: We restore organic matter to the soil by reintegrating crop residues.
Bio-char: We make Bio-Char, a carbon-rich material with a high capacity to capture atmospheric CO2.
ROTATION GRAZING
Our chickens: 160 free-range chickens graze in our olive groves and fertilize the soil.
Movable chicken coops: We are constantly moving our chicken coops to regenerate the soil.
Our eggs: We produce organic eggs that we sell fresh at farmers markets.
Olive groves: Our chickens feed on olive fruit fly larvae which prevents the spread of this pest.
CHALLENGING GOAL
By 2024 we want to eliminate all, or almost all, production waste. We monitor the waste we produce to constantly measure our environmental impact.
PARTNERSHIP
Along with the Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden, we have come up with an action plan to achieve environmental, social and economic sustainability at Fattoria Triboli.
We won the 9th edition of the “Business Award for the Environment” for “Best Sustainable Development Management for Small- to Medium-Sized Companies”.
We take part in the project “Friends For The Earth” to promote and connect the main players in the Green Economy in order to speed the green transition.
We support the Tuscany Environment Foundation in their initiatives to protect and valorize the local environment: https://tuscanyenvironment.org/it/
We are part of the Worldrise project “No Plastic More Fun” and have reached the target of becoming a “Plastic-Free Farm”.
We have submitted our best practices for assessment according to the UNI/TR 11821 regulations and the ISO regulations for projects with international standards.
